Just a warning... this post is going to be very random.
As it almost time for me to leave. I am finalizing last minute details and today my friend (who I am going to Kolkata with week two of India to visit Freeset) called me to ask what I was doing for Holi. Side note- Holi is an AMAZING festival of colors in India. I will post more on what Holi is later. I am so excited about it! She wanted to see if I would come join her in Andhra Pradesh to visit a wonderful ministry that reaches out to street kids, the oppressed, widows and so many others called Harvest India. I am very excited about this possibility and I hope it works out! Please look at this video to see more of Harvest India:

Next, I was or still am on a sub committee for End Slavery Cincinnati and this report is a bit lengthy. But, if you are reading this blog, live in Ohio and care about prevention against human trafficking in our state it is a good read. It is our sub committee's report to the State Attorney's office addressing what demands for human trafficking are made in Ohio. Also, how law enforcement, the prosecutor's office and communities programs are addressing the issues.
Third, I have been listening to Mumford & Sons a lot. "Sign No More" is replacing "Brothers" from The Black Keys which has played over and over since Thanksgiving. I am switching it up with some Bollywood tunes every now and then but mostly "Awake my Soul" is on repeat_a lot. If you aren't listening to Mumford... seriously check them out.
Last, I have been "working" at Legal Aid. I love it and so grateful for the experience. I have had a lot of discouraging people this year. Take a look at the blogging world there are many unhappy, unemployed law grads out there, discouraging lawyers. It is so amazing to work with lawyers who love what they do. One of the managing attorneys who has been there for 20 years told me on my first day, "Kristin, I started working at legal aid because I was passionate about Justice and I wanted to make a difference.... I realized very soon I wasn't going to save the world. It wasn't about a macro view but a micro view. It isn't about big high profiled cases but that one client and helping that one client out of abuse or keep her child and at the end of the day if I did that then I did make a difference."
I shared this because this wise advice is not only going to apply to my law career but also to my trip to India. I am excited to share it with you all soon!

Hi Kristin,
I came across your blog via Polaris Project, and thought you might be interested in checking out Women At Risk, International (website: www.warinternational.org, Facebook: facebook.com/womenatrisk) Not only do they fight and prevent trafficking in various ways, but they also sell products made by rescued trafficking victims and at-risk women. Check them out! :)
Addicted to Mumford & Sons
Tricia- I will check them out, thank you!
